Labor Day Weekend is around the corner and 2020 showed us flames, right? Summer was nowhere near what we thought it would be and it’s time to bring normal back! There’s nothing like Labor Day to treat us to some fresh nostalgia and bring everyone together once again – socially distanced, of course!

Labor Day Weekend 2020:

Quarantine has taught us just how much family and friends mean to us and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate the end of another summer with them – masks and all! Without a second thought, let’s get stuck into some fun and special things to do this Labor Day Weekend:

1. Backyard BBQ with Burgers

Okay, let’s get started with the classics! Nothing helps bring back normality better than a backyard bbq with the family. Get some burgers on the grill, ranch-up your salads and settle in for a Labor Day Weekend full of family and food-loving!

What to eat: The classic American cheeseburger with all the sides!

What to do: Decorate your yard with some fairy lights, fire up some lanterns and hang some flags for that all-American feel to bring in the weekend with a bang!

2. Boozy Brunch with Sweet Tea Sangria

If you’ve spent a huge amount of time with your family recently and are looking for a more light-hearted (who are we kidding?!) girlie time, opt for a boozy brunch – complete with bottles of bubbly, chips n dips and of course, some sweet tea sangria! Whether you’re from the deep south or just love sangria, it’s a surefire way to celebrate another beautiful (albeit strange) summertime.

What to eat: The best kinda brunch; bacon, eggs, pancakes, and a whole lot of syrup!

What to do: Gather your girls, sit some bubbles on ice, and get the tunes flowing… Talk about a relaxing Labor Day Weekend!

3. Cocktail Hour(s) with Clambake

So, brunch is all fine and well but nine times out of ten, it’s going to end before the day is done, right? Why not turn your brunch into an afternoon cocktail party? Or go one step further and do both! Either way, a cocktail party is a chic way to host a Labor Day Weekend, and what’s not to love about cocktails in the golden hour?

What to eat: Clambake! Let’s be honest; it’s a keeper! Did you really think we’d make a Labor Day list without it?

What to do: Eat, drink, and be merry! Oh, and catching the last of the summer rays wouldn’t hurt, would it?

4. Labor Day Pool Party with Pickle Dogs

Okay, so we know social distancing rules will play a big part here, however, if you have a pool at home and your family is living with you, this is definitely possible! Grab some inflatable flamingos, make a big bowl of lemonade punch, and get the family outside, enjoying the last of the summer breeze. We promise it’ll be worth it!

What to eat: If you haven’t had a pickle dog before, then we may just be about to change your life! Hot dogs meet a pickle bun – what’s more to love?

What to do: Get in the pool, of course! Consider putting up a volleyball net and setting up an oh-so-friendly Labor Day Weekend family competition. Hey, it could become a tradition!

5. Bonfire on the Beach with S’mores

As the sunsets on your Labor Day weekend, why not take it back to the beach and light a bonfire for old time’s sake? Sometimes there’s nothing better than unwinding to the sounds of the ocean and the crackle of a fire. Be sure to pack the marshmallows, though!

What to eat: S’mores and hot cocoa. Is there really anything else that beats it? We think not!

What to do: Swap campfire stories, share secrets, and create memories. Some of the best time spent is in the present with some loved ones; oooh, we’re there already!

6. Picnic in the Park with Ranch Potatoes

So, it’s day two of your Labour Day Weekend and instead of sleeping off the overindulgence hangover, why not pack a basket or two and seek out a sweet picnic spot? This one is suited to all groups of people; the girls, the guys, the family, or the friends! Ask everyone to bring one dish and some drinks and you’ll have a full-on, socially-distanced picnic in the park!

What to eat: Picnic’s often called for cold meats, cheeses and jelly, though as it’s Labor Day and all, why not opt for an epic side dish? Try some ranch-infused potato salad to satisfy those hung(over)ry tummies!

What to do: Play some music, get out the card games or sit back and enjoy a lazy Sunday morning in the sun…

7. Paddleboarding with Panzanella

After some picnic fun in the park, head on down to the beach or river (whichever works for you!) and rent out a paddleboard or two! We call this the perfect social distancing activity! You get to share the experience with your friends and family, without being too close to each other! What could be better than that?

What to eat: This may require some pre-cooking, but what Labor Day Weekend is complete without some Panzanella? It’s the perfect after-exercise, high-carb salad we all know and love!

What to do: You guessed it – paddle-board! However, if paddleboarding isn’t your style, don your favorite bikini and take a dip in the water… Or just lie out a towel and enjoy the summer sun while you’ve still got it!

8. Games Night with Grilled Chicken

Sometimes relaxing can get boring – we know, not often – and it’s good to do something a little different. Gather a good group of friends and set up a games night, complete with a round table and some dice! Whether you’re into Texas Holdem or a little Uno, a games night is an awesome way to spend part of your Labor Day Weekend!

What to eat: Get the grill going again and put on some sticky barbecue chicken – it’ll go down a treat at the games table!

What to do: Games, games and more games! Whatever your crowd is into, set up a games sheet and be sure to have a little bar station set up – it’ll add to the casino-vibe we know you’re going for!

9. Convokins with a Labor Day Cookout

Whether you’re having a cook-in or a cookout (see what we did there!), consider adding a little ‘fun’ element into your classic summer-end holiday. Include some name tags, a few party poppers, or go full out with a bunch of Convokins! Haven’t heard of them? Girl, you are missing out! Convokins are a wonderful combination of napkins (handy for messy dinner guests!) and conversation starters. Which genius thought of this? Well, we don’t like to brag but…

What to eat: Convokins can be used in or out, formal or casual, whatever the weather. Though we’d have to be a little biased and say go for a full-blown cookout! Meat, seafood, and veggies are what makes the world go around, right?

What to do: Test out your trusty Convokins to get the party started – or at least the conversation!

10. Movie Night with Marshmallows

Bored of talking to people all weekend and want a chance to chill? Why not dig out the old projector and set up an outdoor cinema with a playlist to suit all ages! Choose a couple of classics to celebrate the Labor Day Weekend and add in a fresh mix of chick flicks and comedies. It’ll be fun for all the family (and friends!), we promise!

What to eat: Marshmallows, chocolate, and popcorn – let’s call it the movie theatre trifecta!

What to do: Sit back, relax, and enjoy the cool, summer breeze with some of your favorite movies – and humans!

11. Road Tripping with Cheesy Bacon Corn

Last on the agenda for an epic Labor Day Weekend is, of course, the almighty road trip! Some would argue it’s not the most social of options, but we beg to differ! Gather your closest friends and hit the road for a well-deserved drive – complete with some tasty corn and cooler-than-cool, summertime drinks!

What to eat: Cheesy bacon corn is the real deal for a road trip. It’s a one-hander kinda meal and we’re here for it! Be sure to pack some extras for the road though – no one likes a hangry human, right?!
