10 Mother’s Day Brunch Planning Mistakes To Avoid

When it comes to Mother’s Day brunch planning, there are many mistakes to be avoided. From cooking endless egg orders to leaving the decor too late, there are (sadly) quite a few things that can very easily go amiss – without proper planning, of course. And that is where we come in to help you out! Here at Cotier Brand, we know how stressful it can be to plan an event – especially when it’s for Mother’s Day!

Mother’s Day Brunch Planning Mistakes to Avoid

We took the liberty of highlighting the top 10 Mother’s Day brunch planning mistakes to avoid – so you can get your to-do list in order and those boujie bubbles on ice… Let’s go, girl!

1. Making Eggs to Order

This simple mistake would arguably seem obvious and easy to avoid, but you’d be surprised how many people try their luck at eggs to order at brunch. Unless you’re a chef with awesome time management, do not bother cooking eggs to order on Mother’s Day. It’s number one on our list of Mother’s Day brunch planning mistakes to avoid for a reason!

2. Attempting Overcomplicated Recipes

Much like eggs, there is ZERO need to overcomplicate things with the food at your Mother’s Day Brunch. Yes, that 15-step overnight muffin recipe might sound amazing, but is the time and effort really worth it? 9 times out of 10, it’s not. Stick to what you know and follow the ever-faithful rule of K.I.S.S – aka Keep It Simple, Sweetheart. See what we did there?

3. Forgetting the Momosa Bar

This might be one of the biggest Mother’s Day brunch planning mistakes you could possibly make and here’s why: bubbles = brunch & brunch = bubbles. No, they don’t have to necessarily be alcoholic but they certainly need to be bubbly! Forgetting the momosa bar at your Mother’s Day brunch is definitely something you wouldn’t want to do so be sure to factor it into your to-do list – quick sticks! Need some inspiration? 4. Not Planning Ahead

As mentioned a couple of times already, that to-do list NEEDS to happen to ensure the success of your Mother’s Day Brunch. Planning ahead is the #1 to stay on top of all you need to do, and there’s something to be said about those little checkboxes getting ticked off faster than you thought possible. Don’t stress – we know you’ve got this under control girl!

5. Leaving Out the Sweet Stuff

While brunch is predominantly savory breakfast foods (don’t come for us), there is a nice cake-sized place for the sweet stuff, too. Whether you choose to focus on one large cake or a range of sweet treats, don’t skimp on it. Variety is always key at brunch – and in life at large, right?!

6. Not Providing Enough Food

Much like the sweet stuff, serving too little food is a big no-no when it comes to a Mother’s Day brunch. You might think you’re saving a few dollars, but honestly, more is more in this case. Be sure to provide a good range of food options, too – including vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free options to accommodate all of your guests well.

7. Leaving the Decor Too Late

This may seem arbitrary, but leaving the decor too late can be a real mess. Our advice? Order whatever you need for your decor at least two weeks in advance to ensure it arrives on time – and gather anything you already have in one place so you’re ready to go on the day. Plus, you want to enjoy the decorating part so don’t rush it – enjoy the ride!

8. Not Asking for Help

One thing we’re all guilty of is not asking for help when we really need it, and even though we’re smashing through your Mother’s Day brunch planning list, it’s always good to have an extra pair of hands or two on deck. If you can, delegate different tasks to a few friends and watch how quickly your Mother’s Day brunch comes to life!

9. Trying to Do Plated Service

Yes, it may look super fancy if you can offer your guests plated service for your Mother’s Day brunch, but trust us when we say, it is not worth it. At all. The best way to go is the buffet – from pretty plates to your champagne bar, it just makes perfect sense. The proof is quite literally in the pudding, after all!

Forgetting to enjoy yourself as the host is such an easy thing to do, but we’d hate to see you go to all of that effort without taking a moment to sit back and take it all in. Remember, YOU made this happen. Now, enjoy it.
