The wonderful season of holidays is slowly upon us and all our favorite celebrations are around the corner. So naturally, we thought it was about time to start thinking about Thanksgiving (and Friendsgiving!) and start planning the main event; including all the friendsgiving games you can play!
We’ve put together some of our favorite friendsgiving games and we want to know which ones you’ll be playing this year. Without further ado, let’s have a scroll and get our creative gaming juices flowing, just in time for the holidays…
1. Cards Against Humanity
A game that needs no introduction: Cards Against Humanity. A wild friendsgiving game best played with people you know and love well as it has a tendency to expose the darker side of our minds! Imagine all the politically incorrect expressions you can think of, mixed in with an array of awkward silences and stifled laughter and you’ve got this crazy game! Definitely one for that group of friends who can handle the heat!
How To Play: Open the box and lay the lid next to the main holster: this will be your ‘discard box’ once necessary. Each round, one player will read a question out loud from one of the ‘black cards’ and all other players will choose their funniest ‘fill-in-the-blank’ white card they have in their hand. All players will hand in their white cards to the player asking the question, who in turn will read all cards aloud, whilst deciding who has the worst (best!) answer! The person with the most questions won at the end of the game wins!
2. Charades
We’re all familar with this holiday favorite, known as Charades. It’s the best way of telling which of your friends is born to be the next Hollywood actor or who really shouldn’t quit their day job! Either way, it’s one of those friendsgiving games designed to raise a certain level of competitiveness out of your group and allow for some good old-fashioned fun! Or debates – but hopefully it won’t come to that!
How To Play: In this case, artists on Etsy have blessed us with beautifully designed Charades cards, so all you have to do is pick up a card from the bowl and act it out to to your team mates. The team with the most guessed right answers at the end of the game wins!
3. Convokins
Our personal favorite (no, we’re not biased!) Thanksgiving Convokins are the ultimate conversation-starter. Crafted to create meaningful connections, our conversation starter napkins feature fun and engaging conversation prompts, while also avoiding any awkward topics.
Plus the modern gold foiled pumpkin napkins elevate your tablescape and complement any Friendsgiving!
How To Play: Go around the table reading out your Convokin question to your friends and take it in turns to answer – as honestly as you can! If you want to pass the question, you’ll have to bypass it with a dare or a drink!

4. Flag Football
Arguably, the OG Thanksgiving – or Friendsgiving – game for the holiday season! Most families have a certain way they play their traditional football games, but as it’s Friendsgiving this year, why not go for flag football? It’s a little lighter on the body and less likely for injury to happen.
How To Play: Though we doubt it needs much explanation but we’ll humor it anyway. Flag football is typically played with 6-8 players per team who try to score points by moving the football down the field to their respective goal line. As the players will be wearing tags, you have the ability to ‘catch people out’ to reduce team numbers and gain advantage. The team with the most point at the end of the game wins!
5. Time Capsule
There has probably never been a better time for a time capsule than in the year of 2020. A year that has turned the whole world upside down and shown us what really matters; it seems only right to capture this in a little box with some close friends, bury it in the backyard and revisit it in years to come once the craziness is over… Right? It’s a beautiful way to create long-lasting memories with your circle and one of those special kinds of Friendsgiving games!
How To Play: Find any old box or container, OR opt for this gorgeous engraved time capsule from Etsy and ask each of your friends attending your Friendsgiving this year to bring a keepsake they’d like to put in the box. Once the capsule is filled, dig a hole in the backyard, bury it with your friends and choose a date in the future to reopen it. In this case, everyone wins!

6. Pumpkin Carving Contest
Though this may blur the line between Halloween and Friendsgiving games, we thought it could be a hilarious game to play with your friends this year! Ask everyone to bring along a pumpkin of their choice, dish out the tools and have a voting contest at the end to decide who’s pumpkin carving is the best!
How To Play: Choose a pumpkin, a couple of tools and get carving! Ask everyone to write their favorite name and put it in the hat, and count up the votes! The person with the most votes wins!
7. Designer Mimosas
Nothing says it’s holiday season like some bubbly! Why not up your game (see what we did there!) this year by creating a Mimosa-making Friendsgiving game? Grab this Mimosa Bar Kit, set a table up and get everyone involved in creating their very own designer Mimosas! It’s definitely a crowd-pleaser and we certainly love it!
How To Play: Set up a dedicated table for your Mimosa Bar Kit and put out all the necessary signs, bunting and details. Slice up some fruit, put the bubbly on ice, layout some flutes and away you go! It’s hard to find a friend who doesn’t appreciate a boujee drink from time to time, so in this case, we’re all winners!
8. Friendsgiving Bingo
Perhaps a little more on the PG13 side of Friendsgiving games, but a necessary one all the same! What are the holidays without a little Bingo? A little sad, we reckon! Either create your own Bingo boards from scratch as part of a very-needed DIY project, or source some ready-made Bingo board designs. Etsy is full of them and they’ll look just the part!
How To Play: We’re sure that most of us are familiar with the rules of Bingo, but just in case… Everyone will have a Bingo board in front of them and a pen. They will listen to the words the caller calls out, and once their board is full, they’ll call out “BINGO!” The person who shouts Bingo first, wins!
9. Classic Board Games
Every holiday season, a certain amount of tradition must remain present. It’s just a must really. No Friendsgiving should be complete without a couple of classic board games to drive home that competitive spirit amongst friends!
How To Play: Most board games will come with their own set of rules, so be sure to read them aloud to the group BEFORE playing. You don’t want any discrepancies half way through the game, ultimately leading to a silly argument (or two!). Keep the rules clean and fair and you’re guaranteed to have a lot of fun! Either choose to play in teams or individually and be sure to announce the winner(s) – it’s what it’s all about hey!
10. Pumpkin Patch Selfie Scavenger Hunt
An outdoorsy game that’s dedicated to millennials and beyond. A pumpkin patch selfie scavenger hunt is not only a mouthful but a full-on Friendsgiving game! Grab your pumpkin list, and your best selfie pose and get shooting!
How To Play: Pass around the pumpkin lists and pens so everyone has one of each, and throughout the day, get people to go on a ‘selfie run’ to see what they can tick off. The person who ticks off the most selfies on the day wins!
11. “I’m Thankful For…”
Last but definitely not least, a moment to be mindful and thankful for all you have. Look around you and acknowledge the beautiful food, drinks and company and talk about what else you’re all thankful for. There has never been a better time to feel gratitude for your life and others.
How To Play: Pass around the “Thankful” posters and ask your friends to take a few, quiet moments to write down their A-Z’s. Once everyone has completed their poster, go around the group and read out each letter to share in one another’s thankfulness.
